StratiCELL engineer's skin tissues containing melanocytes from Black or Caucasian donors enable the reconstitution of dark tanned and light tanned pigmented tissues, respectively.


The StratiCELL® reconstituted epidermis with melanocytes is very similar to human skin in terms of morphology, in terms of expression profile of melanocytes such as S100 and in terms of functional characteristics (melanin transfer and nuclear capping of keratinocytes).


This model represents a relevant tool to investigate and characterize molecular pathways involved in skin melanogenesis, de- and pro-pigmentation as well as to validate new active ingredients acting on melanogenesis. MEL/001 is also used to evaluate photo-protection.
