Dermato-Cosmetic Activity
The biological activity of skin care products, used in dermatological and cosmetic applications, are preferably identified and characterized in vitro, prior to in vivo assessment on human volunteers and as an alternative to animals. Gathering knowledge on the mode of action of an active ingredient or a formulation is a prerequisite in the support of marketing claims of activity and efficacy and provides insights into molecular mechanisms during the development process.
StratiCELL's core business is to provide relevant and sensitive in vitro molecular and cell biology endpoints; with a special emphasis on skin biology.
StratiCELL aims to be an integrated in vitro solution for dermato-cosmetic industry, by developing and manufacturing in vitro skin models and by providing these industries with laboratory services to investigate key skin biology processes using state-of-the-art technologies and know-how. Besides the reconstituted human epidermis StratiCELL can also perform biological activity testing on 2D cell cultures (keratinocytes, fibroblasts, melanocytes, etc), on reconstituted human epithelia (bucal, intestine, vaginal,...), and on human skin biopsies.
