 Applied Bio Systems
Based on its expertise and know-how in skin science, StratiCELL has developed proprietary TaqMan® arrays to study gene expression changes of specific, thematic skin biological processes. With these thematic TaqMan Arrays one can study mechanistic effects of skin care substances/products on well-defined cosmetic and dermatological themes. Major skin biological processes are classified on 5 different thematic arrays, each comprised of 90 target genes.
Gene expression profiling is performed as a real-time PCR using Taqman® methodology.

5 different thematic TaqMan arrays

  • Epidermal differentiation and skin barrier function;
  • Melanogenesis & Sun Protection;
  • Skin Ageing & Stress;
  • Wound Healing & Inflammation;
  • Skin Disorder & Sensitive Skin.

Skin biology processes targeted on the thematic TaqMan Arrays

Skin Ageing (90 genes)

Intrinsic ageing of the skin occurs as a natural consequence of physiological changes over time, while extrinsic ageing includes exposure to external factors such as sunlight, pollution, repetitive muscle movements and other stresses. The StratiCELL predesigned TaqMan array focuses on genes involved in matrix synthesis and degradation, DNA repair, protein degradation and repair, antioxidants,...

Skin Barrier & Differentiation (90 genes)

The array is designed to study gene expression of key factors involved in barrier properties and epidermal differentiation. It focuses on genes involved in lipid/ceramid synthesis, hydratation, epidermal cohesion and desquamation.

Melaogenesis & Sun Protection (90 genes)

Regulation of melanin synthesis involves many factors. The StratiCELL predefined array allows to identify the mechanisms involved in the modulation of skin pigmentation, by studying expression of key factors of melanogenesis. Furthermore photoprotection could be highlighted by changes in expression of genes involved in DNA repair or inflammation.

Wund Healing & Inflammation (90 genes)

Target genes are involved in highly complex well-orchestrated processes leading to wound and burn healing (such as cell proliferation, migration, matrix remodeling, angiogenesis and inflammation).
