Applications of the StratiCELL® Reconstituted Epidermis with Melanocytes

  • In vitro de- and pro-pigmentation studies of skin care substances and products (systemic way);
  • Screening of molecular pathways involved in melanogenesis;
  • Gene expression profiling with proprietary TaqMan® arrays.

The StratiCELL® Reconstituted Epidermis with Melanocytes (MEL/001) is produced from human keratinocytes isolated from neonatal skin tissue from a pool of different donors, and from melanocytes from Black (MEL/001 DT) or Caucasian (MEL/001 LT) donors.
Cells are seeded on polycarbonate filters (standard size 0.63 cm2) and grown at the air-liquid interface in an appropriate cell culture medium. After two weeks of differentiation, a full pigmented epidermis is reconstituted.
For each batch of reconstituted pigmented human epidermis, the quality of the tissues is verified and detailed in a quality data sheet.

StratiCELL has developed its proprietary reconstituted pigmented epidermis. The StratiCELL® Reconstituted Epidermis with Melanocytes (MEL/001) is commercially available. Their quality and high reproducibility make them ideal for use in alternatives to animal testing.
